RCU6512 Remote Control Unit (for RT6512 VHF Radio)

Communication / Fixed Wing / Helicopter

Covering the standard and extended airband frequency range, the RT6512 VHF transceiver covers multiple operational applications. It provides RS422 and ARINC 429 connectivity, and the robust housing, free of any ventilation slots and forced cooling, is optimized for the harshest mission environments.

The RCU6512 Remote Control Unit is made to operate with the VHF transceivers of the RT6512 series. The primary function of RCU6512 is to be the HMI (Human Machine Interface) for interaction between users and VHF transceiver.

Installed in the instrument panel of an aircraft, unit is used for communication between aircraft or between an aircraft and ground stations, using the very high frequency band.

Data is exchanged between the RCU6512 and VHF transceiver through a RS422 serial interface. Different built-in tests examine the correct operation of RCU6512 and transceiver.

Tandem function for a synchronized operation of two controllers in the same installation (depends on RCU variant). Unit provides support for 2-way intercom for tandem operation – pilot and co-pilot have different controllers and can control their individual audio parameters, like volume or VOX.
